LUCID Workshops

Involving patients and the public in intervention design

Delia Muir

Background, aims and content

Multiple stakeholders hold knowledge that can help us to develop relevant, effective interventions. In healthcare settings, patients, carers and the public are an important part of that. This workshop will focus on how to integrate Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) throughout complex intervention development.

Participants will:

  • Be encouraged to consider the benefits and challenges of PPI in their specific research context.
  • Hear real examples from experienced PPI facilitators.
  • Take away a set of PPI considerations for intervention development projects.
  • Experience and reflect on different facilitation techniques, which may be helpful in their own PPI work.

Target Group

Attendees assumed to have a basic knowledge of or interest in intervention development, but may have no prior knowledge of the workshop topic.
