Primary care
A research topic within the School of Medicine

Primary care
Our aims
Clinical research continually produces new evidence that can benefit patients but this evidence does not reliably find its way into everyday patient care. Our research focuses on three priorities:
- Implementation Science – understanding and changing professional behaviour to improve the uptake of evidence-based practice;
- Health and Wellbeing of Older People: – particularly the development and evaluation of complex interventions in community settings; and
- Primary Care Oncology – the earlier diagnosis of cancer, screening, and both pharmacological and behavioural approaches to cancer prevention in primary and secondary care.
We also bring methodological skills and primary care perspectives to a wide range of other research themes within the School of Medicine, particularly the closely allied Palliative Care research programme.
