Diagnostics and pathology
Our aims
Advances in molecular and digital pathology, imaging and genomics promise to have a huge impact on medicine, patients and our understanding of human disease. We deploy the full range of modern tools, from classical pathology through molecular and digital pathology to new modes of imaging, to answer important questions on causation, screening and treatment.
Our key achievements include improving outcomes in bowel cancer through understanding the mechanisms of disease recurrence, improving the quality of surgery, understanding the importance of preoperative treatment, imaging and the role of molecular diagnostics. The integration of data analytics, together with expertise on clinical imaging and close collaborations with computing, data visualisation and health engineering, enhances our potential to deliver personalised diagnoses.
