HARNESS is the Health Analytics Research Network for Education, Statistics, and Safe AI.
HARNESS is a vibrant, cross-disciplinary community within the Leeds Institute for Health Sciences (LIHS), dedicated to advancing research and teaching in health informatics, data science, statistics, and artificial intelligence. We bring together expertise from across LIHS to tackle complex challenges in health and healthcare through innovative, data-driven approaches.
Our members work on a diverse range of topics, including:
- Study design and statistical methodology
- Health informatics
- Applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare
- Health economics and service evaluation
- Analysis of electronic health records
- Computer vision for video and medical imaging
- Mixed methods research
We collaborate across clinical domains such as geriatric medicine, mental health, neurology, oncology, and many others - always with a focus on improving health outcomes through rigorous, impactful research.
HARNESS also works closely with other initiatives including LIDA Health to build the skills and capacity of early career researchers working in health data science.
