Placements have been the highlight of the course for me. Leeds Medical School has offered me a whole host of excellent clinical experiences from the specialist Hepatology ward at the St James University Hospital; the biggest teaching hospital in Europe, to a GP practice in the outskirts of Halifax. The most memorable clinical placement I have been on was my surgical rotation in Airedale Hospital, a district hospital in North Yorkshire, where I was able to assist in a complex appendectomy surgery. This hands on experience is one of the reasons why I want to pursue surgery as my future career.
