the university of leeds postgraduate certificate in echocardiography is the leading course for clinical training in cardiac ultrasound in the north of england

Jane Rogerson

I chose to study a postgraduate echocardiography course at the University of Leeds because it offered a great opportunity to consolidate my learning and work experience with an academic qualification. I really enjoyed the wide range of speakers from congenital specialists, cardiology research fellows, technical specialists from industry, research lecturers and the course lecturers, making the course varied and interesting.

The highlights of the course was that I met Echocardiographer’s from other NHS trusts and the variety of speakers was great. I found that the greatest challenge for me was writing essay’s after a long break from academia.

The lectures were delivered during two separate one week block sessions, which gave me time to fully focus on the course whilst taking time away from work. I found that the library workshop was very useful for tips on academic writing, and performing relevant research and evidence gathering.

Overall I feel that this course is great for anyone specialising in the area of Echocardiography. It has really benefited me in my career and helped me to develop my skills as a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist.
