The Deep End Leeds

Description


The development of The Deep End Leeds - Primary Care for research with underrepresented communities. 
Aims: To work with four GP practices in socioeconomically deprived areas of Leeds to:
1. form the first Leeds Deep End Research Network, a group of practices equipped to help engage under-represented populations in research studies 
2. develop a Leeds Deep End Patient and Public Involvement Group - to increase opportunity for people from under-represented communities to contribute to PPI for research, and 
3. contribute to the development of inclusion health Deep End research as a priority within the Division, with a strategic focus on inequalities in Palliative Care.

Our commitment:
1.    To skilfully liaison with GP practices and with the Yorkshire and Humber CRN to improve research culture and capacity for under-represented populations through primary care. 
2.    To build professional and community networks and work closely with patients and members of the public, clinicians, and academics. 
3.    Explore and offer opportunities to develop research active practices and involvement in NIHR Portfolio studies to four primary care sites, 
4.    and work with university colleagues to develop future research with a strategic focus on inequalities in palliative care and primary care.

Impact

Our aim is for a sustainable, long term Deep End Research Network across Leeds, part of a national and regional Yorkshire and Humber network. The aim is to increase PPI, and research participation and recruitment to research from underserved areas.
