Patient Carer Community

Student Assessment

Since 2008 Patient Voice Simulated Patients (PVSPs) from the PCC have been involved in the design, delivery and assessment of year 5 OSCE stations. OSCEs are students’ practical exams carried out at the end of their 3rd, 4th and 5th years of study.

As well as writing scenarios based on their own patient & carer experience, the group have developed their own mark sheet and this directly contributes to the candidate’s final mark.

  •  PV SPs give additional information and contribute to assessment reliability
  •  Patients are core to teaching and assessment
  •  PCC members now also contribute more meaningfully to year 3 and 4 assessment too
