Optional modules

Radiographic work-based learning

The main focus of this module is the flexibility for to identify an area of radiography practice which is of most interest to you, and to spend time in that area.  This module will allow you to negotiate and arrange your own placement in an area you are interested in, and to focus your learning around the patients and settings in which you will be working.

With peer and tutor support you will design your own learning outcomes in terms of what you wish to experience and gain from the time.  You may wish to focus on a particular modality which interests you (such as ultrasound or CT), specialism or areas of advanced practice (for example image reporting), or to focus on a particular body part or system (like breast or neurology).  All of these examples have previously been undertaken by students taking this module.  The assessment of this module allows you to focus on a single patient case study to really evaluate the massive role the Diagnostic Radiographer has on the patient pathway.

This module will help you develop your communication and negotiation skills but particularly allows you to gain more experience in an area which you may wish to consider for your future career.

The radiographic work-based learning module offers many options for you to develop your own training needs for your career
