WHO Collaborating Centre on Research and Capacity Strengthening of Health Policy, Governance and Services

The Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development in the School of Medicine has been designated a new World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaboration Centre. 

Collaborating Centres are institutes chosen by the WHO Director-General to assist the organisation in its various programmes. As a Collaborating Centre on Research and Capacity Strengthening of Health Policy, Governance and Services, The Nuffield Centre will support the WHO in health systems research & development and child & maternal health. 

The Nuffield Centre will assist WHO by:

1.     Providing technical assistance to WHO for the development of the Maternal Newborn Child Adolescent Health (MNCAH) programme 

2.     Contributing to improved health policies and systems in pursuit of universal health coverage and Primary Health Care (PHC) for Maternal Newborn Child Adolescent Health (MNCAH) 

3.     Exploring holistic multi-sectoral approaches to improving well-being of key vulnerable groups

Types of activity include:

1.     Product development (guidelines; manual; methodologies)

2.     Collection and collation of information 

3.     Training and Education
