2.    Prior to submitting the form, applicants should send the required documentation in one email to the Medical Electives Team electives@leeds.ac.uk.
Required documentation:
•    An academic transcript
•    A letter of recommendation from your university
•    Personal Statement explaining in no more than 200 words why you are interested in the Electives placement and what you hope to achieve
•    Evidence of English Language level (applicants must ensure that they have an English IELTS certification or equivalent, with an overall score of 7.5 and at least 7.5 in the speaking component, unless otherwise stated in the Memorandum of Understanding)

You will receive a confirmation letter in March via email and this document can be used to support your application for a visa.
If at this stage you decide that you no longer wish to take up the medical elective placement, it is important that you inform the team by email at electives@leeds.ac.uk.

Accommodation

Students are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. A member of the Medical Electives Team will contact successful applicants with information regarding the recommended accommodation provider and will advise students when to book. If booking independently, we recommend that students book accommodation in Leeds city centre. Please note that accommodation is not available at the Hospital Trust.

Following confirmation

Following confirmation of your place on the Medical Elective programme, we will be in touch with detailed guidance regarding the administrative processes for the elective, such as criminality checks, Occupational Health Checks, and uniform ordering.

In May, before the start of your elective

Students will be registered on the non-degree medical course for the duration of their elective. One month prior to the start of your elective you will be required to complete the online registration process.
