Dr Graham Woodrow - Consultant Renal Physician (26 years)

Dr Woodrow

Nominated by a range of colleagues, Dr Graham Woodrow has received an Excellent Longstanding Service Award to recognise his 26 years of service and commitment to Undergraduate Education not only in LTHT but as MBChB Year 5 lead for the University of Leeds.

Appointed as a Consultant in 1996, Dr Woodrow was training students from the outset, firstly 3rd years before moving on to 5th years a few years later.

Dr Woodrow has continued to be a 5th year placement lead in LTHT until his recent retirement and is still passing on his wealth of knowledge and expertise by contributing to medical student teaching during his part-time return to clinical practice. His passion and drive for learning excellence is evident from student and colleague feedback.

In recent years Dr Woodrow’s involvement in the development of the Post Finals Assistantship with partner trusts and the University has provided a vital transition and insight into the working lives of our future foundation doctors. A recent quote from Dr Woodrow sums up his dedication and passion for medical education over the last 26 years: “The biggest reward is the hope that it has a beneficial impact on the students I have taught”.
