Male BSc mental health nursing student case study 2018 400x400

Michael Mugridge

Within mental health nursing, everybody has a story, a background, a history. Things going on that you may not notice first-hand. It’s an honour to be able to work with people in a way they feel safe to open up with you. I want to be one of those people to steps forwards and help people.

Research was always in my mind when I chose this course, and there is a big research focus here at Leeds. It’s given me a really practice understanding of what it means to care for people, what it means to be compassionate and non-judgemental.

One thing this course has taught me the importance of are good communication skills, I can't stress how important those are, and important to this field.
