Following graduation I decided to take a year out to travel and think over my options; I found that my Psychology degree equipped me with the skills for a wide range of careers. I have always had a huge interest in Forensic Psychology and decided that this was the route for me. Due to the high level of competition, I spent the next 18 months securing voluntary positions with The Youth Offending Service, The Probation Service and The Prince’s Trust. This enabled me to gain the experience required for postgraduate study as well as a deeper understanding of the area in which I want to work. I have now secured a place to return to University to study for an MSc in Forensic Psychology later this year. Following this I hope to gain the experience and supervision required to eventually become a Chartered Forensic Psychologist and work within the Prison Service in what is sure to be a varied, challenging and rewarding career.

Among other things, my studies at Leeds have provided me with valuable skills in research and statistical analysis, as well as the chance to undertake my own research in a forensic setting. During the interviews I have had for postgraduate study, I have found that these skills and my BPS accredited degree are very well respected and have given me a lot to talk about. My time at Leeds provided me with a first-class grounding in Psychology and I would highly recommend the course.
