Ben Webster BSc Psychology student case study 400 2018

Benjamin Webster

I chose psychology because I knew it was a discipline I found especially interesting and I was considering a career in clinical psychology. it's important for me to be studying it because of the skills it will equip me with to enter the competitive job market. Before studying here at Leeds I was living in France whilst studying for my french baccalaureate

I've learnt valuable information that I believe has enriched my perception of myself and others. The final year projects, in particular, are more interesting than anything I encountered in the first and second year of this course.

The School of Psychology staff and tutors have provided incredible support through my time studying this degree. They've always been happy to help and patient with any questions I've had.

Hopefully, the analytical and written communication skills I've gained from studying psychology will help me go on to find a rewarding job in a career area, not necessarily linked within the psychological discipline. As such I am currently applying for graduate compliance schemes in the banking sector.

My advice for future students is to make sure they love the city and Leeds student culture. the university offers everything you'd expect from a Russell Group university. I'm a big fan of Leeds nightlife and love living in a large city that has a lot going on. The fact that it is a lot cheaper to live here than in some other southern university towns is a great attraction.
