At Leeds, our aim is to support you through both your personal and academic progress, while helping you to develop the skills you’ll need to succeed on the career path you choose.

Along with guidance from the School's academic staff, you'll receive personalised careers support through the University's Leeds for Life initiative. We believe this focus is one of the reasons we're in the Top 10 in the UK for graduate recruitment, according to High Fliers research.

Preparing graduates for the future

Leeds for Life is about preparing you for your future. It's a unique resource, available only to students at the University of Leeds, and it will provide you with access to a range of opportunities including volunteering, professional and research placements, which can help enhance your CV.

From recording your academic achievements, to helping you organise one-to-one careers advice from experts and giving you access to a personal tutor, Leeds for Life will help you get ready for your next step.

Your personal tutor will provide key support. They will:

  • review your on-going academic development
  • help you identify areas for development
  • encourage you to reflect on your skills, experiences, and achievements
  • raise awareness of extra-curricular activities and opportunities available
  • point you in the right direction for specialist advice or counselling

Alongside the support provided by Leeds for Life, our School's society, PsychSoc runs events and careers talks across the year to showcase employment opportunities, inform students about their options and help ensure you're in a position to create strong employment applications.

An ongoing resource

Your Leeds for Life record is available for five years after your graduation. This means you can use it when writing your CV, and your personal tutor can refer to it when writing you a reference. Once you've graduated, support continues through our Leeds Network, which provides exclusive advice and guidance from alumni.
