Research in one of the country’s leading dental schools with an outstanding international reputation
The School of Dentistry’s goal in research is to provide a complementary combination of research strengths to meet the international priority needs for translational and clinical research in dentistry. As the School of Dentistry is within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at Leeds, you'll study as part of the Faculty Graduate School.
Our excellence in clinical research is underpinned by outstanding basic dental science.
Outstanding facilities for research
We offer great opportunities for high quality research training in both basic dental science and clinical dentistry, with dedicated in-house laboratories for:
- microbiology
- molecular biology
- histology
- imaging
- materials science
- biochemistry laboratories
Dedicated tissue culture and bioengineering facilities are also available for research in tissue engineering and stem cell biology. The Dental Translational and Clinical Research Unit permits instant access to clinical samples for analysis.
We also host a Skeletal Tissues Research Bank for skeletal tissue samples.
