Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Our principal NHS partner is Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust; employing over 1000 consultants with an annual budget of over £1.2bn, it is one of the largest teaching hospitals across the UK.
Undergraduate and postgraduate education is supported across all our medical, nursing and allied health professional curricula.
A joint research strategy is enabled through joint appointment of clinical academics, the recognition of academic excellence across NHS Consultants through an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor scheme and delivery of a jointly agreed research strategy overseen by a Joint Partnership board.
NIHR infrastructure (e.g. Biomedical Research Centre, Clinical Research Facility, two Medicine Innovation Centres, Tissue Biorepository) are all crucial in supporting our early translational research with an interdisciplinary focus. Research into medical & surgical technologies, cardiovascular research, musculoskeletal medicine and an integrated cancer centre are all priority areas of excellence underpinned by various digital health platforms and significant Clinical Trials capability.
The partnership is proud of its Integrated Academic Training Programmes delivering the next generation of clinical academics across all domains of healthcare.
