This is an exciting opportunity for three health economists to join a thriving health economics research team with a commitment to supporting and developing its members. The first post is for two-years working closely with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to evaluate the expansion of digital pathology infrastructure in England. The appointed person will use modern methods of time series and observational data analysis, decision modelling and cost benefit analysis to evaluate the benefits realised, and return on investment by the Department of Health in digital pathology infrastructure and artificial intelligence across the £50m National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) programme. The second post is for two-years working closely with the Leeds In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (NIHR Leeds MIC) on projects evaluating the cost-effectiveness of novel diagnostic and prognostic technologies, including a biomarker
for early cancer detection and a test for diagnosing a form of kidney disease. The projects will focus on the development of decision analytic models to assess the cost-effectiveness of the different technologies. The third post is a three year post mainly focussed on two projects evaluating digital health interventions. These projects include discrete choice experiments (DCEs) to estimate preferences for the innovations and economic evaluations to establish their value for money. AUHE has an excellent track record in securing the funding required to extend research post contracts.
You will be based within the Academic Unit of Health Economics but will work with researchers in the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and the wider Faculty of Medicine and Health, as well as with other stakeholders such as staff in NHS Trusts and Industry partners of NPIC. You will have a good understanding of quantitative methods, experience analysing health research data and competence with statistical programming software. A background in health economics is desirable and in particular, experience of trial analysis [for the second and third post] and developing decision analytic models. Knowledge of discrete choice experiments would be advantageous for the third post.
