Cancer Survivor Intelligence Group
- Group summary: The Cancer Survivor Intelligence (CSI) Group is led by Professor Adam Glaser and focuses on the collection of information from individuals living with and beyond cancer in order to generate enhanced intelligence on the consequences of cancer survival.
What we do
The ultimate aim is to be able to provide a robust evidence base upon which health and social care economies can build comprehensive after-care support programmes to maximise individuals quality of life, function and re-integration within society.
The lifetime population risk of developing cancer is 1 in 2 with over 50% living for at least 10 years beyond the time of diagnosis. There are currently 2.5 million people living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis in the UK. Our work addresses the three outcomes that matter most to these individuals and their families:
1. Am I going to survive?
2. Am I going to be treated well?
3. What am I going to be like after my cancer treatment?
Current research interests include site specific Patient Reported Outcomes (PROMs) research with prostate and bladder cancer and wide reaching general programmes of research into the late effects of cancer in both adults and children and young people. Specific focus is currently on mental and reproductive health outcomes for young people with cancer.
The group's work includes these programmes:
- Life After Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
- Life and Bladder Cancer
- Comprehensive Patient Records for Cancer Outcomes
- The Candlelighters Clinical Research Training Fellowships Programme
