Anna Hockaday

Profile

I am the Deputy Institute Director (Operations) of the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research which includes my role as Operations Director for the Leeds Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit.

I have worked in clinical research since 2006, holding various roles in clinical trial management before moving into operations in 2019.

I oversee delivery of a large portfolio of clinical research with a particular focus on biologically-rich complex innovative clinical trials. I have an in-depth knowledge of the UK clinical trials landscape and experience of working with regulators, government bodies and funders including AMRC charities, NIHR and industry.

I have experience of leading the development and delivery of long-term operational strategies to drive forward key operational objectives which deliver against a 5-year vision and scientific strategy.

I sit on a number of external committees including the DHSC Non-commercial Costing and Attributions Group, deputy-chair of the UKCRC CTU Policy Group and the CRUK CTU Fellowship Expert Review panel (commencing 2025).

I am currently seconded part-time to support delivery of the Leeds Cancer Research Centre which is a collaborative cancer research initiative between the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
