SoH 'Life-changing' nursing apprenticeships in the news
School staff and students meet Apprenticeship Minister Anne Milton at St James's University Hospital.
A nursing apprenticeship and training scheme between the School of Healthcare and Leeds NHS Trust is "absolutely critical", education leaders have said, ensuring a new wave of healthcare workers can be upskilled, the Yorkshire Post reports.
The School of Healthcare staff and students met Apprenticeship Minister Anne Milton at the hospital, who said, “It’s absolutely fantastic, and at the heart of it is making sure that we continue to improve patient care."
Dr Helen Smith, Director of student education here at the School of Healthcare said such schemes enable people to 'earn while they work' and secure degrees. "What the apprenticeship programme has done is provided an alternative route into nursing for those who may not otherwise have the chance," she said.
