Leeds Associate Professor invited to Best Brain Exchange Event
Dr Joanna Smith, Associate Professor in Child Nursing, from the School of Healthcare has been invited to speak at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Best Brain Exchange Event in Canada.
Joanna will present her work around models of family centred care and underpinning evidence base entitled ‘Identifying Evidence-Based Models of Care for Children with Complex Needs’, at the University of Prince Edward Island, Prince Edward Island, Canada on Friday 23 February.
The Best Brains Exchange will focus on leading research evidence, best practices and lessons learned from other jurisdictions that allow participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of available research evidence and implementation experience in providing services for children with complex needs (CCN).
Joanna has over 15 years clinical experience, primarily caring for children and their families with complex needs; Over 15 years experience teaching family centred care and ways of working with children, young people in the context of children with long-term conditions. Her research focuses on the way health professionals work with and involve children, young people and their families in decisions about their care, in the context of children with long-term conditions.
