Profile

I am a Senior Research Fellow in the Academic Unit of Health Economics within Leeds Institute of Health Sciences. I joined AUHE in May 2018 after two years as a Postdoc in Health Economics at the University of Groningen. Prior to this, I held various teaching and research fellow positions at University College London and the University of York.

I am also an honorary researcher with both Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and deliver teaching as part of the University of York’s distance learning programme in health economics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Applied Health Econometrics Group
  • Joint (with Adam Martin) lead, Learning & Teaching
  • Co-lead for ENQUIRE-3 Integrated Core Unit, MBChB Year 3.

Research interests

I am currently involved with several funded projects, including:

  • ATLANTIS – investigating the cost-effectiveness of amitriptyline at Low-Dose and Titrated for Irritable Bowel Syndrome as Second-Line Treatment in primary care.
  • CHART – assessing the health economic impact of comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) to sustain independence for older people living with heart failure and frailty.
  • POPPY – investigating the budgetary impact of new pain management service configurations.
  • RETURN – assessing the cost-effectiveness of a psychological intervention delivered to adults attending dental services for emergency care.

I am also involved in a number of other research themes, including the relevance of the degree of budgetary impact in determining relevant decision rules in economic evaluation.

I teach health economics and research study skills as part of various undergraduate and postgraduate modules & am available for PhD supervision.
