Online film festival screening for ‘A Different Path To Recovery’

A participant-led film developed as part of 'The Big Picture' research project has been selected to screen at the Virtual REEL Recovery Film Festival on the 6th November 2020.

The film was co-produced as part of the Global Challenges Research Fund project ‘The Big Picture’ led by School of Psychology professor, Anna Madill. The project focuses on youth drug addiction in Assam, India, and primarily uses visual methods to understand young people's resilience in the face of substance addiction. The goal is to increase knowledge, enhance the voice of young people, and inform practice through impacting policy and promoting public awareness.

A Different Path To Recovery’ focuses on a young Assamese woman who recalls how her path to recovery from addiction seemed different from those of men, given the social and cultural expectations surrounding her.

The film will be screened for free on the festival website on Friday 6th November from 1pm (BST).
