Clinical Teaching Development and Excellence Awards 2025

The winners of the Clinical Teaching Development Awards 2025 were announced at the Interprofessional Learning Conference in September 2025.

Dr Jordan Williams has been described as an inspiring, innovative teacher and leader. Over the past three years, he has excelled across teaching styles and roles. His perceptiveness, enthusiasm, and commitment to developing others earned him the Leeds York Partnership Foundation Trust’s Outstanding Teacher Award. Despite being early in his career, he has made impressive contributions to strategic and operational teaching delivery. Jordan actively seeks feedback and embraces improvement, making him a truly deserving candidate for this Development Award. 

Anouar Amine has made an outstanding contribution to the iBSc in Applied Health (Medical Education) in the Leeds Institute of Medical Education through both teaching and supervision. He designed and delivered an engaging workshop on quantitative methods, tailored to student needs, and received excellent feedback. His supervision of student research projects has been exemplary - supportive, reflective, and developmental. Anouar’s flipped classroom materials and thoughtful feedback have enhanced student learning and critical thinking. Anouar has been described as conscientious, approachable, and committed to excellent education.  

Dr Madiah Mahmood has made an outstanding contribution to undergraduate medical education at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust as a Junior Medical Education Fellow. She has co-led Year 5 placement delivery, created engaging workshops for MLA, PSA, and OSCE preparation, and developed impactful TEL resources including an SBARR eLearning tool. Her teaching is learner-centred, inclusive, and innovative - using interactive methods to enhance engagement and understanding. She provides tailored support to struggling students and fostered excellence among colleagues through feedback and mentorship. Passionate about medical education, she actively pursues CPD and presents at national conferences. Dr Mahmood is a dedicated, collaborative educator committed to improving student experience and outcomes.  

These early-career educators and winners of the Clinical Teaching Development Award 2025 exemplify dedication, innovation, and excellence in clinical education. We congratulate them on their achievements and contributions to the teaching and support of our medical students. They each receive a one-year scholarship to undertake a programme of postgraduate study in clinical education at the University of Leeds.

Clinical Teaching Excellence Awards 2025

Dr Tim Clarke of the Horton Park Medical Practice has shown exceptional dedication to medical education through innovative, learner-centred teaching. His development of an atrial fibrillation escape room transformed a challenging topic into an engaging, team-based learning experience praised by students and educators alike. He proactively identifies learning gaps and creates impactful resources, including workshops and teaching tools adopted across the GP training community. As a Year 4 lead, he ensures students receive high-quality, well-organised teaching and pastoral support. His commitment to educational excellence, creativity, and leadership has inspired peers and improved student outcomes, making him a highly deserving recipient for a Clinical Teaching Excellence Individual Award

The Mid Yorkshire Undergraduate Medical Education Team consistently delivers outstanding, inclusive, and innovative teaching. Their placements are highly rated by students and highlights include simulation-based communication workshops, educational escape rooms, and the award-winning “Joined Up Teaching” initiative. Their holistic approach ensures personalised support through named contacts and near-peer mentoring. The team actively integrates vertical themes like health inequalities and sustainable healthcare, aligning with GMC outcomes. Committed to continuous improvement, they present nationally, apply CPD learning, and empower clinical colleagues through training. Their dedication to a diverse and inclusive student experience, pedagogy, and educational leadership makes them highly deserving of a Clinical Teaching Excellence Team Excellence Award.
