Dennis Parker Prize for innovation awarded to James Nicholson

The 2016 Dennis Parker Prize was awarded to James Nicholson for his work on developing The Leeds Medical Student Community First Responder (CFR) Scheme.

The Leeds Medical Student Community First Responder (CFR) Scheme is a volunteering initiative that will train medical students to respond to urgent emergencies in their local area.

The committee also gave honourable mention to the Healthcare Technology Cooperative Foundation (HTCf) and an application submitted by recent MBChB graduate William Bolton on behalf of the student-led affiliation set up to champion interdisciplinary collaboration and education amongst undergraduates to tackle unmet clinical needs, particularly in surgery and biotechnology.
