Profile

I completed my formative training in Biochemistry and Systems Biology (BSc) at Imperial College London, with an industrial placement year at GSK, Stevenage. Specialising in data science during my final year project, I continued my training in machine learning, computer vision and deep learning through an extended predoctoral internship under the guidance of Prof. Dan MacLean at The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich. During this time, I was involved with study of parasite genetics for crop security.

I conducted my doctoral research under the supervision of Professors David Westhead (Bioinformatics) and Reuben Tooze (Haematopathology) at the University of Leeds, focusing on patient stratification using machine learning in histopathology. I co-supervised 4 MSc student projects, providing support on the technical aspects of data science projects in healthcare. This PhD led to a research partnership with a major pharmaceutical and diagnostics vendor, as well as award of an Innovation & Impact grant to support commercialisation of PhD work (my first Research Fellowship).

In August 2025, I joined the division of Health Services Research as a postdoctoral Research Fellow. I work closely with clinicians, patients, health administrators, commercial partners and data scientists in development of software to benefit patients and NHS staff. My career ambitions are to develop software that benefits the people of Leeds, Yorkshire and the wider UK population.

In my free time, I’m an avid tinkerer, squash player and reader. I devote considerable time and money to support the people of Ukraine (DrykArmiya, IT army of Ukraine, Kyiv Independent etc.), my beautiful birthplace, and charities supporting female victims of domestic abuse and/or harassment (Action Aid, Justice for Women & White Ribbon).
