How to apply

Masters student sat on a bench at the University of Leeds.

There are various routes through which you can make your application. We use a tailored approach and you may follow various steps, but these are the key stages you need to follow when making an application:

Making your application

Please apply using the online application form for research degrees.  If you are applying for a University Scholarship, additional forms may also be required.

Completing the form

Please nominate at least one possible supervisor for your research degree. Please note that it is important to try and identify a supervisor whose research links closely to the research you are intending to undertake and contact them to discuss your project to see if they would be willing to supervise you. If there are no supervisors with similar research interests, it is unlikely you will be offered a place to study for a postgraduate research degree.

If you are applying for a University scholarship at Leeds, please specify this in the ‘Funding’ section.  Alternatively, please state if you are seeking a scholarship, already hold a scholarship or intend to fund your own studies.

Please include:

  • your CV
  • transcripts/degree certificates
  • English Language qualifications (if English is not your first language)
  • outline of research proposal or area of research you would like to study
  • copy of visa (international part-time PGRs only)
  • confirmation of funding if secured

If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact us.
