Professor Trudie E. Roberts

Profile

Responsible for scholarship in Medical Education at the University of Leeds. I graduated from Manchester with a degree in Medicine and a BSc in Anatomy. I then undertook my early medical training in Manchester and my research in Manchester and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. In 1995 I was appointed Senior Lecturer in Transplant Immunology at the University of Manchester. In 2000 I was appointed Professor of Medical Education at the University of Leeds. I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2006. In 2009 I was appointed Director of the Leeds Institute of Medical Education (-2019). I was a Council Member of the General Medical Council from 2009 until 2012 and Chair of the Association for the Study of Medical Education until July 2013. I was President of the Association for Medical Education in Europe from 2013-2019.

I am a member of the International Medical University (IMU) Professional Education Advisory Committee, Academic Council and Editorial Board Member for their online publication IeJSME.  I am a Member of the Medical Education, Training & Professional Development Board for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, and member of the Examination Board for the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. I work with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) on both their Doctoral Fellowship Programme and – Future Focussed Leadership Programme. I have worked with the Office for Students on the Main and Subject Panels for the pilots of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

I conduct Faculty development workshops nationally and internationally on assessment and professionalism, medical education, assessment, transitions, learning environment, interprofessional.
