Dr Mary-Claire Kennedy

Profile

Mary-Claire holds a BSc(Pharm) from Trinity College Dublin and an MPharm from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She was awarded her PhD from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin in 2015. This PhD was undertaken through the Health Research Board (HRB) PhD Scholars Programme in Health Services Research. Mary-Claire worked as a community pharmacist and also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistics in Trinity College while completing her PhD research. She completed a Masters in Clinical Education with the University of Leeds in 2020.  Her research focuses on the pharmacotherapeutic management of chronic non-malignant pain using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Mary-Claire would welcome enquiries from students, clinicians and researchers who are interested in developing research in any of the fields described above.

Student education

Mary-Claire is Programme Lead for Independent and Supplementary Prescribing. She also contributes to teaching and assessment across a number of programmes within the School of Healthcare including undergraduate nursing, pre-registration pharmacy and the postgraduate diploma in pharmacy practice. Her teaching is focused on pharmacology, acute and chronic pain, and pharmaceutical calculations.
