Professor John Baker from the School of Healthcare has been announced in the new line up of NIHR Senior Investigators.
He joins Professor Rebecca Lawton from the School of Psychology who has secured a second term and 22 others including 10 active, 10 emeritus and two having completed term 1.
Professor Baker’s was appointed to Chair of Mental Health Nursing at the School of Healthcare in 2015. His research focuses on improving the quality and safety of mental health care, through a focus on reducing coercion and restrictive practices, patient and professional safety in mental health services, developing effective and therapeutic mental health services.
NIHR Senior Investigators are among the most prominent and prestigious researchers funded by the NIHR. They are outstanding leaders of patient and people-based research within the NIHR research community. Senior Investigators receive an award of £20,000 per year of appointment to fund activities that support their research.
This latest round of appointments follows an open competition, with the NIHR appointing 43 new Senior Investigators in this round and reappointing 16 others.
