Profile

I am a lecturer developing and evaluating methods for the design and analysis of clinical trials. I’m particularly interested in working out how we should decide if a large, lengthy and expensive trial should be conducted, thinking about not only the likely effect of the intervention but also the general feasibility of the trial. This line of work includes developing methods for pilot trials (small trials which we conduct prior to, or in the initial stages of, the larger study), for the computational simulation of trials, and for making decisions under uncertainty with respect to several outcomes. I’m also interested in developing statistical software, using GitHub to facilitate collaboration and making R packages implementing the methods we develop.
