Before completing training in clinical psychology Fiona completed two research fellowships. Her first research fellowship explored the psychosocial impact of the spinal condition idiopathic scoliosis. Prior to this research, the psychological effects of scoliosis (which affects approximately 1% of the female population) had not been explored. Her second fellowship involved administering a national project exploring the relationship between dementia and Down’s syndrome and sought to develop a new psychometric tool to assess neurological change in people with learning disability.
