Laura is the Deputy Dean for Student Education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health and is also the Director of Leeds Institute of Medical Education. Prior to this Laura has held a number of academic leadership positions within the School of Medicine including Director of Student Education and Head of Skills and Simulation Education. Laura is an Associate Professor with extensive experience in academic leadership, setting strategic direction, leading and developing teams and services, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the Faculty’s portfolio of taught programmes.   

Laura’s leadership within the School of Medicine has been pivotal in the development and innovation of student education within the field of health professions education, skills and simulation and workplace based learning and assessment. This includes the development and enhancement of curricula across a wide range of clinical programmes including the MBChB, over a number of years. Laura has worked in medical education since 2009 and is also a registered nurse with 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, during her clinical career she specialised in Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine.
