Dr Steve Rose


Leading the administration and operational functions for the Institute, I work directly with the Institute Director, Senior Academics, Research and Student Education leads and Faculty teams, playing a driving role in the high-level coordination of the Institute’s activities, including strategic development, planning, research and performance monitoring. I have extensive experience in the University (and NHS) sector as a senior administrator with previous roles as research academic and clinical scientist.

My main roles include:

  • Responsible for the successful day-to-day running of the Institute
  • Develop, update and implement Institute strategies for Research, Student Education, Estates and Finance
  • Ensure robust finance and research plans are in place, evidenced through internal research and finance processes (IPE & ARIR)
  • To ensure robust governance mechanisms are in place for Finances, HR, Clinical Trials, HTA, and Estates
  • Manage admin and technical support teams
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, external collaborators, partners and key funders
  • Work closely with the Leeds NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (LBRC), supporting and ensuring joint activities are delivered as planned
  • Act as Person Designate for the HTA research licence
  • To deliver strategic projects as required
