Profile

I lead the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education, a course for all healthcare practitioners who are engaged in education in clinical or Higher Education settings.As an educator, facilitator and enabler I embrace the strategic aim of inspiring students (whether under or postgraduate) to develop their full potential. I currently lead the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education and provide research supervision for the Master in (Clinical) Education programme. I also facilitate communication skills for undergraduate medical students and am a personal tutor for students on the BSc Applied Health Suite (Medical Education) degree. I am interested in the provision of feedback, the practice of supervision, the use of portfolios in education and student mental health.

Prior to working within LIME I worked as a senior sister and clinical education lead for the regional paediatric intensive care unit and as a lecturer/ practioner in child health nursing before moving to a third sector organisation that provides provides care for children with life threatening and life limiting illness where I was Head of Education.

Research interests

My professional doctoral study is on postgraduate programmes for clinical educators and impact on pedagogical identity and practice.

Student education

In session 2018/2019 I am module lead for MEDS5106M and MEDS5107M.

I teach on MEDS5108M, MEDS5109M and provide research supervision on the Masters in Education (clincial) progrmme
