Profile
As Business Manager, Vicky manages the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences research and teaching activities, including strategic development, planning and performance monitoring. She is responsible for the development and preparation of LIHS's academic, financial and workforce plans for the Head of Institute.
Vicky has worked for the University since 2006. She has a strong background in a number of learning and development settings; previous roles involved, operational management of LIHS's teaching and estates activity; operational delivery of large national training programmes; oversight of systems and infrastructure to support training delivery and leadership of administrative teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develops a 5 year implementation plan, in collaboration with the Head of Institute, Research and Student Education Lead, to support the strategy map for the Institute’s policy on research and innovation and student education, and to monitor progress made
- Establishes robust processes and procedures to enable the Head of Institute to account for resources – financial, staff and space allocated to the Institute
- Works alongside Professional Support staff to ensure the provision of board level reports on finances, staffing, research activity and other statistical information required by the Head of Institute, Institute and Faculty
- Provides support and leadership for business development activities
- Supports the Institute HR Manager to ensure robust, efficient and transparent mechanisms are observed for HR processes and liaise with HR to ensure that issues are dealt with promptly
- Provides advice and guidance to Academic staff in the development and approval of collaborative agreements with external partners as required
- Contributes and Leads on School level projects and initiatives when appropriate
- Works closely with the Faculty Health & Safety Manager, leading Health & Safety compliance in the Institute to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that there are effective systems in place to comply with Health and Safety requirements
- Works with partner organisations including NHS trusts at a senior level
Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) Cognitive Science, Leeds University
- Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Diploma in Leadership & Management
- Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Award in Leadership & Management
