Profile

I entered radiography education as a clinical tutor at the Leeds Western School of Radiography in 1990. My journey through academia has been through a exciting period for Radiography Education, in which the professions transgressed from the Diploma of the College of Radiographers to the Degree education. During this time I became a Radiography Lecturer in a newly rationalised radiography education hub, where 4 Schools of Radiography merged. Subsequently the Radiography Education part of the Leeds College of Health, an affiliated college of the University of Leeds where I was an integral member of the team which had the first Radiography degree validated in Leeds. Later the Leeds College of Health became part of the University of Leeds.

During this time I have been involved in numerous developments and led a variety of programmes. The developments I was involved in were the Dental radiography Programme and Radiography Assistant Practitioner, I have programme managed both these programmes. I have also ben programme leader for the BSc (hons) Radiography and intercalated BSc (Hons) Medical Imaging programmes.

My main areas of teaching are around Anatomy and Physiology and Pattern Recognition.

Whilst in the School of Healthcare I had a number of roles which were the Chair of the School Board of Examiners, Academic Lead for Information Management and Framework Co-ordinator for Undergraduate Education. These roles allowed me to develop a greater appreciation of strategy within Higher Education.

From a national perspective I have been a Major Reviewer in my professional field of Diagnostic Radiography as well as regularly reviewing articles for the journal Radiography.
