Profile
I have a background in computer science and medical physics and have worked as a clinical scientist before moving to academia. My work has focussed on the science and technology of medical imaging, . I also have interests in student education, having developed software simulators for teaching the physics of X-ray imaging. I have received reseach funding from industry, UK funding research councils and the European Union. I have had extensive collaborations with colleagues from industry, hospitals and other universities.

Research interests
My research is in the area of medical X-ray imaging, focussing on the assessment of image quality and the optimisation of image quality with respect to radiation dose. I also have interests in image analysis, and am currently investigating methods of quantifying blood flow within the heart from X-ray angiography. I have also investigated a number of technology enhanced teaching topics, such as computer simulation of X-ray systems for education, and virtual reality resources in teaching.

Student education
I am the Assosiate Director of Student Education for Student Success in the School of Medicine as well as the Academic Integrity Lead for the School. I am the deputy lead for the MSc Medical Imaging, and teach X-ray imaging, medical image analysis and processing, and computer programming.
