ACADEMIC LECTURER IN DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING - Current
DUTIES: As an academic lecturer within the diagnostic imaging team I deliver the academic and practical diagnostic ultrasound imaging program to our students. I am the module leader for the Science and Technology Cohort and the Negotiated and Focused Negotiated imaging practices. (MSK Ultrasound and Vascular ultrasound modules)
I work closely with students delivering the academic teaching components of each module ensuring that the lectures are delivered within a variety of ways to ensure the students remain engaged and interested as well as ensuring the students are up to date with new techniques and developing technologies. I work with the students within the clinical environment on a one to one basis, or group basis and feel this interlinks both the academic and clinical practices
Current Advanced Ultrasound Practitioner : JUne 1998 - current
I took up post as a permanent Senior Ultrasonographer in June 1998 within a busy general and district hospial and divided my time between these hospitals peforming a variety of multiple ultrasound examinations within the scope of practice of General medical ultrasound, Gyanecological ultrasound and Obstetric Ultrasound. I qualified as an MSK specialist in Nov 2011, I achieved my MSC in medical ultrasound in Nov 2011 and qualified as a vascular Sonographer in 2003. I have maintained my own sessions on a weekly basis for each of these specialist imaging modules. I provide out-of-hours service to the EPAU , radiologist on call rota and IUD rota which is performed single-handedly.
I have recently gained my accreditation from the Royal College of Radiographers as part of my CPD profile.

Student education
As an academic lecturer within the Diagnostic imaging team I am keen to ensure that students gain a high standard of education within a specialised field. It is important that students not only gain knowledge but at the same time this knowledge is presented at a level that students understand, enjoy and can engage with all aspects of the programme and as a lecturer I ensure that the teaching I provide is innovative, up to date and linked to best practice within current clinical practice.
