Profile

The primary aim of the post is to perform focussed translated research in neuroblastoma biology, my current project involves isolation, culture and characterisation of neuroblastoma cells from bone marrow taken from patients with neuroblastoma. This involves planning and execution of experiments, performance of data analysis, and interpretation of the results and generation of ideas based on research findings. Specialist skills include tissue culture including primary cell culture, molecular biology techniques, protein expression analysis (western blotting, immuno-labelling, and flow cytometry). The secondary role is management of the Children’s Cancer Research Group to ensure smooth day to day running of the laboratory, tasks include induction of new staff and visiting workers, insurance of adherence to local health and safety guidelines, ensuring maintenance of equipment and facilities, supervision of junior tissue culture/clinical trials technician.
