Profile

I joined the Academic Unit of Primary Care at the University of Leeds as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in 2017. I co-lead the Individuals and Populations course and teach on the Primary Care modules in years 3 and 4. 

In 2022 I have started a funded Clinical PhD Fellowship researching the role of digital education in developing empathy, compassion and social responsibility in undergraduate medical education. 

My main academic interests are in medical education, digital education, health inequalities and inclusion health.

I work as a General Practitioner and Trainer at a practice in central Bradford where we provide primary care for those experiencing homelessness, asylum seekers, refugees and women involved in prostitution. I’m the clinical lead of the Bradford Respite and Intermediate Care Support Services, an intermediate care facility for people experiencing homelessness and significant physcial health problems. I am a member of the RCGP Health Inequalities Standing Group and a Trustee of the charity Fairhealth.

Student education

My teaching role in the School of Medicine is principally co-leading the population health module as well as teaching Primary Care in years 3 amd 4. I am involved in supervising research projects with Intercalated Medical Education BSc students and year 4/5 Extended Research Projects.
