Our research
We produce outstanding research, from fundamental science through to applied work with real-world-impact. This research is centred around our four Research Themes: Health, Wellbeing, and Healthcare Services; Childhood, Adolescence, and Ageing; Appetite, Nutrition, and Obesity; Cognition, Perception, and Action.
Research groups
Our internationally recognised research is focused into a number of specialist groups, who use their expertise to bring insight into targeted areas of study and discovery.
Appetite Control and Energy Balance
The Appetite Control and Energy Balance (ACEB) research group is part of the Human Appetite Research Unit (HARU), and studies peptides and gastrointestinal physiology, food choice and physical behaviour.
MoreCognitive Neuroimaging
The Cognitive Neuroimaging group focuses on the application of neuroimaging technologies such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, and functional Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy.
MoreHealth and Social Psychology
The Health and Social Psychology research group conducts research which focuses on pain, stress and health, understanding and changing health behaviours, biological influences and examining outcomes of psychotherapy.
MoreInfant Feeding
The Infant Feeding group conducts research in order to understand the psychological processes involved in a number of aspects of infant feeding including hunger, appetite, food preference and satiation.
MoreLanguage and Memory
The Language and Memory Lab (LaMLab) works on all aspects of memory and language research, in healthy individuals at each point in their lifespan and more specialised population groups.
MoreNutrition and Behaviour
The Nutrition and Behaviour (NAB) Group is part of the Human Appetite Research Clinic and is led by Professor Louise Dye and Dr Clare Lawton.

PAC Lab is a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to understanding how humans interact with virtual and natural environments.
