Profile

I am a pharmacy lecturer with an interest in digital education, specifically artificial intelligence (AI) Educational Policy and AI applications with healthcare. Following my training year at Royal Derby hospital I registered as a pharmacist in 2018, I have maintained an active practice working in community pharmacy. I completed my PhD in pharmaceutics at the University of Huddersfield, working on a method development for UV imaging apparatus. This was an EPSRC-funded material science project, undertaken in partnership between the School of Applied Sciences and the School of Engineering.

After completing my PhD, I was appointed a lecturer in clinical pharmacy at the University of Huddersfield. In 2024 I was appointed as a lecturer in pharmacy at the University of Leeds. I developed an interest in the education of AI within healthcare, with a focus on educational policy.

Research interests

My research focus has moved from pharmaceutics to applied educational research, specifically efforts to develop digital educational policy. Development of digital educational policy is a key priority for the NHS, as outlined in the Topol review 2019. The gap between educational policy and teaching practices was a topic I explored in an editorial, titled 'Addressing the education gap of AI policy into practice: A pharmacy perspective' for the journal PM healthcare. My work in this area includes the development of novel teaching content for postgraduate students on critically appraising data reported using AI. The impact of this content is the basis for my educational research, with an aim to determine the impact on practice that developments in digital education have.
