Mr Ben Eckles

Profile

After graduating from the University of Leeds as a Registered Adult Nurse, I began a clinical nursing career in Critical Care at a large teaching hospital. I held several different positions ranging from Staff Nurse, being a member of the Critical Care Outreach team and more recently as a Clinical Educator. Through all of this, I gained valuable and extensive experience caring for acutely and critically unwell patients and supporting the teaching and learning of colleagues. I joined the University of Leeds in 2022 as a part-time Tutor in Adult Nursing and enjoy sharing my experiences from practice with our students.

I recently became a member of the Royal College of Nursing Evidence and Practice Advisory Panel advising on the direction and development of evidence-based practice, and reviewing evidence submitted to the Nursing Standard.

With a passion for teaching and learning, I am a Fellow of Advance HE and studying for a Master’s in Clinical Education at the University of Leeds. I have a special interest in technology enhanced learning, clinical simulation and how learners learn. In addition, I have a passion for diabetes care and lead on this aspect in the School of Healthcare.
