Profile

I qualified as an Adult Nurse in 2012 after graduating from the University of Manchester. During my 10 years in the NHS, I worked in a variety of specialities, including lung, gynaecology and acute oncology, supporting those affected by cancer. My roles as Associate Specialist Nurse in gynaecological cancer, acute oncology and cancer of unknown primary, has given me a range of experience and expertise across disease groups and treatments. I completed my masters in Specialist Practice in Cancer at the University of Manchester, which enabled me to pursue my interest in the experiences of marginalised people who are affected by the disease.

In 2022 I joined the University of Chester as a Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Healthcare education. My responsibilities included cohort lead, module quality lead, and academic assessor, which allowed me to develop, coordinate, and evaluate undergraduate modules across multiple campuses, ensuring consistency, academic rigour, and alignment with NMC standards.

I joined the Academic Unit of Health Economics in the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences in September 2025 as a PhD student aligned to the ENQUIRE project, under the primary supervision of Dr Katie Spencer and Prof Chris Bojke.

Research interests

My research interests are primarily how those affected by cancer experience the healthcare system, especially those who are not typically represented in research and literature.
