Jenny Owen

Profile

Jenny graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004 with a BSc in Oral Health Sciences. She then worked in mixed private and NHS practices and commenced her role as a Teaching Fellow in Dental Hygiene and Therapy at the University of Leeds in 2005

In 2014 Jenny undertook her Masters in Dental Public Health and graduated the following year with her dissertation being on the oral health advice provided to parents of children with congenital heart disease. Following her masters, Jenny was awarded a Post-Masters Internship with NIHR CLAHRC Yorkshire and Humber, which allowed her dedicated research time to work alongside Dr Peter Day and his research team on various projects relating to the oral health of young children.

In September 2018 Jenny was awarded a 2 year Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship from HEE/NIHR, which she completed in August 2020.

Jenny works as a Teaching Fellow in the Dental Public Health department.

Research interests

Jenny’s research interests are in health promotion, behaviour change and complex interventions, particularly in relation to the oral health of young children.
