Profile

My primary research interest is the global governance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), evaluating the policy responses, strategic commitments and actions taken by countries internationally, to mitigate the threat of AMR.

After qualifying from the University of Leeds in Dental Surgery and Oral Science, I joined as a clinical academic in 2024. I was the principal investigator on a research grant evaluating international diagnostics for AMR. This was completed in 2025, which transitioned into a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) In-Practice Fellowship, awarded over a two-year period. The Predoctoral Award develops existing research efforts into a comprehensive, longitudinal study, analysing the strength of global policy responses for mitigating AMR since 2020. Through the Fellowship, my time is equally shared between academic and clinical practice.

Former academic appointments have been held with the University of Edinburgh and University of Exeter. Previously, I served as independent consultant to the World Health Organization and International Science Council during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have provided input to various governments, organisations and academic groups on Covid-19 and AMR policy, particularly on the design of national action plans and implementation of public health measures.
