Profile

Jianhua Wu obtained his BSc Honours in biostatistics from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2004 and a PhD in computational biology from the University of Warwick in 2008. He worked as a lead statistician at MRC Human Nutrition Research, the University of Cambridge from 2013-15 before joining the University of Leeds as a Lecturer in Medical Statistics in June 2015. He was promoted to Associated Professor in 2018. His main research interests are statistical application in applied oral and medical health research (particularly cardiovascular disease); data mining, machine learning analysis and methodological development for electronic health record data; understanding the relationship between oral health and systemic disease; data linkage for research-ready database, new design and analysis for clinical trials ; Trigeminal Neuralgia, GWAS study in oral health.

Research interests

Statistical design, analysis and methodological development in clinical trials

Statistical data mining, linkage and methodological development for electronic health record data using HES, CPRD, UK Biobank, particlularly focusing on cardiovascular disease, periodontal disease and systemic conditions.

Data linkage for routinely collected dental and medical electronic records

Machine learning and AI application related to medical research

Dental public health and epidemiology to link oral health with obesity and chronic systemic diseases

GWAS study in applied oral health research
